Training Course Attendance Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this Attendance Policy is to highlight that regular attendance at scheduled training is critical for maintaining compliance and enhancing workplace safety.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees and nominated candidates who are required to attend training courses as part of their job responsibilities.

Policy Statement

Mandatory Attendance: All candidates must attend designated training courses as scheduled. Attendance is mandatory unless otherwise specified.

Notification of Absence: Candidates or their company representatives must notify our Training Support Department if they are unable to attend a scheduled training session. Notification should be made at least 24 hours in advance, unless an emergency situation arises.

Acceptable reasons for absence: Acceptable reasons for missing a training session may include personal illness, family emergencies, pre-approved leave (e.g. vacation, medical leave), and work-related emergencies.

Make-up training: Candidates who miss a training session for an acceptable reason must complete a make-up session within 30 days of the original date. Make-up sessions will be coordinated with the instructor and the training coordinator pre-authorized by training manager.

Unexcused Absences: Candidates who miss training without prior notification or an acceptable reason will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include 'a formal warning', 'marked as No Show for late arrival or absence', 'mandatory re-training', and 'other disciplinary measure as deemed appropriate.

Documentation: Attendance records will be maintained for all training sessions. Candidates are responsible for signing in on the class rosters for each session.

Feedback and Improvement: Candidates are encouraged to provide feedback on training sessions. This feedback will be used to improve future training programs.

Review

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
